Lacuna Coil: Shallow life

I always thought that Lacuna Coil had their moments even though they more often come across as a very weak band with bland material to boot. For example, “Comalies” was a fine album with some really good tunes – still I can’t name a fucken song title off it, nor can I hum a single verse or chorus. “Karmacode” had the “Our truth” tune that I think is quite fucken fantastic, but that was pretty much all when it comes to that disc. So, you can see that Lacuna Coil is hardly my fave musical artists of this millennium, it’s just a band with alot of recognition and little substance. Sometimes shit work like that. Alot of bands who deserve attention never get it and instead a band like this is in the magazines, getting full exposure for reasons unknown. But as said: I have nothing particular against them. Except utter disgust for the fucken guy destroying each and every song with his piss-poor vocals, that is.
I rather have someone spoon-feed me with A.I.D.S. than having to hear him vocally piss in my speakers ever again. It’s a mystery they still have him in the band. If you can look beyond that “small” detail it turns out Lacuna Coil is a quite decent group of inbred pizza makers. Or used to be. Or actually, maybe they never were any good to begin with? I’m starting to lose it here…
“Shallow life” is the latest effort, obviously produced by some hot shot guy I couldn’t give a fuck about, and yes… this album is shallow, so the title is appropriate (I must be the first one ever to do that reference, huh?). I read some reviews before getting to hear it myself, and it seems like everyone is on the same page – “Shallow life” is obviously not a very good album – hot shot producer or not.
And it isn’t.
It’s completely devoid of catchy tracks such as the mentioned hit “Our truth”. But what’s worse is that it’s absolutely lacking spirit, penis and balls. That Christina chick’s vocals are fine as always, the dude’s vocals are fucken spectacularly irritating as always and I’m sure none of you can even mention any other member’s name, and even less praise their performances – simply becoz no one gives a fuck. They don’t have tits, you know. Sexism is the shit. Get back into the kitchen, bitch. Fuck you very.
I have heard all of Lacuna Coil’s albums and “Shallow life” is without a doubt their weakest one yet. This won’t prevent them from selling shitloads of units to less intelligent people and polluting the music scene a bit more in the process. Good for them.
